Definition:
A Cun - or Chinese "inch" - is the unit of measurement used in acupuncture and qigong practice. One Cun is defined as the distance across the uppermost joint of the thumb of the person being treated. Three Cun is defined as the distance between the outer edge of the pinky finger and the inner edge of the first finger, again on the hand of the person being treated. The lower Dantian - one of the most important locations for Neidan practice - is accessed via a point 1.5 Cun below the navel.
