Sushumna Nadi

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

The Sushumna Nadi is a Sanskrit term used to describe the central channel within the subtle body. It is a channel (meridian) of energy that flows vertically, along the course of but slightly in front of the spinal column, from the perineum to the crown of the head.

The term Sushumna Nadi is associated primarily with the Hindu Yoga traditions. The equivalent within Taoist Yoga is the Chong Meridian. In Buddhist Yoga it is called the Avadhuti.

The chakras and dantians are expressions of the energy of the Sushumna Nadi.
