Wu Daozi is to Chinese painting what Wang Xizhi is to calligraphy: considered not only as an artist, but also a sage or even a Deity. Most of Wu Daozi's work consisted of murals painted in Taoist and Buddhist temples. Most of these have been destroyed, so what we're left with are only the reproductions.
