Definition:

Chakra is a Sanskrit term whose literal translation is “wheel.” The chakras are energy-centers located along the central axis (Shushumna Nadi) of the subtle body, which are activated via yoga practice. The chakras function is a way very similar to the dantians described by qigong and neidan practice. In this painting by Alex Grey, the chakras are seen as spheres of white light along the center-line of the body.
