"Clairvoyant research suggests that illness begins first in the etheric and higher frequency vehicles. If this is so, then signs of illness can be seen in the etheric body earlier than they can be detected in the physical body. Ideally, one would like to find illness at an early-enough stage that the physician's intervention could actually prevent the disease from physically manifesting at the cellular level."

Richard Gerber's Vibrational Medicine: New Choices For Healing Ourselves - from which the above passage is drawn - is a longtime favorite of mine. It was published initially in 1988, has since been revised in a couple of new editions, and is a treasure-trove of fascinating information about subtle-body healing technologies.

Mr. Gerber was trained as an M.D. - so has one foot planted firmly in the western scientific/medical traditions - and the book is rich in references to scientific studies related to subtle-body phenomena. The range of topics covered (including acupuncture and the chakra-nervous-system link) is far too vast to attempt a listing here. I would only say that it's a book well worth checking out, if you haven't already.
